6 Day Loving-Kindness Meditation Retreat in A Buddhist Monastery in Indian Himalayas (Ladakh)

Overview

If you’re looking for a life-changing experience in one of the most sacred spiritual places of Buddhist India, then Metta Pilgrims’ 6-day Loving-Kindness Meditation Retreat in a Buddhist Monastery in the Indian Himalayas might just be the perfect opportunity for you.

This retreat takes place in Ladakh, also known as “little Tibet,” and is specially designed for spiritual seekers, meditation practitioners, yogis, healers, researchers, mindfulness coaches, therapists, and curious pilgrims who want to learn the art of Buddhist meditation and discover the healing power of Metta Bhavana – an ancient practice of loving-kindness and compassion.

The retreat offers a wide range of activities that include sitting, walking, and movement meditation classes, as well as a Karma cleansing ceremony and learning about Buddhist psychology and Dharma. Whether you’re a beginner, intermediate, or advanced level practitioner, the program is designed to meet your needs and enhance your practice.

One of the highlights of the retreat is the location itself. You’ll be staying in the Thiksey Monastery, one of the most beautiful monasteries in the Himalayas. This monastery is located on top of a hill in the Indus Valley and is surrounded by breathtaking panoramas that will leave you in awe. With 10 temples, an assembly hall, precious stupas, amazing statues, and traditional Tibetan thangkas, this monastery truly is a sight to behold.

But the real treasure of the monastery is the world-famous statue of Maitreya Buddha, an embodiment of boundless compassion and infinite loving-kindness. You’ll have the opportunity to immerse yourself in this raw and powerful environment of the mysterious Himalayas and learn the sacred art of metta – a therapeutic and transformative practice of loving-kindness and compassion.

The retreat is led by Lola, a researcher, educator, sound healer, self-love mentor, yoga & meditation teacher, and movement therapist, and Geshe Chamba Tongyut, a Buddhist monk and international teacher. Both instructors are knowledgeable, compassionate, and committed to guiding you towards a more meaningful and awe-inspired life.

The program is also inclusive of daily healthy vegetarian meals, roundtrip transfers, and accommodation for the duration of the retreat. You’ll spend one night in Leh and the rest of the tour in Thiksey Monastery Guest House. The monastic food is simple but very tasty and always made with love. Tibetan herbal tea and two mineral water bottles per person per day are also included in the price.

In addition to the retreat program, you’ll have free time for rest and study, self-reflection, journaling, and meditation. The retreat also offers a special Green Tara puja to remove obstacles in life, both spiritual and mundane.

This retreat is a perfect opportunity to disconnect from the hustle and bustle of daily life and connect with yourself, nature, and a community of like-minded individuals. It’s a chance to deepen your meditation practice, learn about Buddhist philosophy and psychology, and discover the healing power of loving-kindness and compassion.
