About Alicante

Alicante is a coastal city located in the southeastern region of Spain and is part of the autonomous community of Valencia. Situated on the Costa Blanca, this place is admired for its beautiful beaches, pleasant climate, and rich history. It is a popular tourist destination, attracting both domestic and international visitors who come to enjoy its warm Mediterranean climate and stunning coastal landscapes. One of the most prominent features of Alicante is its extensive coastline, which stretches for miles and offers a variety of beaches to suit different preferences. The main beach, Playa del Postiguet, is located in the heart of the city and is a popular spot for locals and tourists alike. Other notable beaches include San Juan Beach, Muchavista Beach, and Albufereta Beach, each with its own charm and amenities. Alicante’s history dates back thousands of years, with evidence of settlements in the area dating back to the Bronze Age. The Castle of Santa Barbara on Mount Benacantil is a significant landmark and offers panoramic views of the city and the Mediterranean Sea. The old town, known as El Barrio, is another must-visit area, with narrow streets, colorful houses, and squares filled with cafes and restaurants. Seafood and traditional Valencian cuisine are being served here. Local dishes include paella, arroz a banda (rice cooked in fish broth), and various seafood delicacies. Aside from the food, the place is also known for festivals and celebrations. One of which is the Bonfires of Saint John (Las Hogueras de San Juan), held in June, which involves large bonfires, fireworks, parades, and music. The festival attracts visitors from all over the world. Overall, Alicante offers a combination of natural beauty, historical attractions, and a lively atmosphere, making it a must-go destination for those who seek a coastal vacation in Spain.
