About Jalisco

Jalisco is a state located in western Mexico. The state’s capital and largest city is Guadalajara, which is also the second-largest city in Mexico. It boasts a diverse geography that includes coastal areas, mountains, and valleys. The western part of the state is characterized by its long coastline along the Pacific Ocean, which features popular tourist destinations such as Puerto Vallarta and the Riviera Nayarit. Inland, the landscape becomes more mountainous, with the Sierra Madre Occidental mountain range running through the state. It is the birthplace of many Mexican traditions, including mariachi music, tequila, and charreadas (Mexican rodeos). Guadalajara, the cultural hub of the state, is renowned for its colonial architecture, lively arts scene, and museums, including the Instituto Cultural Cabañas. Additionally, the region’s cuisine is famous for dishes like birria (a spicy meat stew), tortas ahogadas (drowned sandwiches), and tequila, which is produced in the area surrounding the town of Tequila. In terms of tourism, Jalisco offers a combination of natural beauty, historical sites, lively festivals and celebrations, and modern amenities that make it a popular destination for both domestic and international travelers.
